Annual Conference & AGM, August 2026

The 119th Annual Conference and AGM of the Dickens Fellowship was hosted by our Denmark Branch on 4th, 5th and 6th August 2026 at the Scandic Falkoner Hotel in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. 

This provided members with their annual opportunity to meet in person with fellow Dickensians from around the world, to have their say on Fellowship matters at the AGM, and to hear a range of informative and entertaining lectures relating to our theme - which, this year, was 'Dickens, Fairytales & Fantasy'. 

Chair of the Denmark Branch, Tina Lindop Gable, and her team extended a wonderfully warm welcome to Fellowship members from several nations - including the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Japan and the USA, as well as Denmark itself - and had arranged superb hospitality as well as a rich programme of lectures and an informative walking tour of the local area.

Our Guest of Honour at the Grand Conference Banquet was local Historian and Councillor, Mr Nicholaj Bøgh, who spoke about his own experience of reading Dickens and proposed the Toast to the Immortal Memory. 

At the end of the conference, the Presidency of the Dickens Fellowship passed from Lucinda Dickens Hawksley, whose two-year term had come to an end, to our new President, Paul Graham.
