Members of the Rochester and Chatham Branch Welcome HRH the Duchess of Cornwall to Rochester

Former President of the DF Gerald Dickens and members of the local Rochester & Chatham Branch welcomed HRH The Duchess of Cornwall to Rochester Guildhall on 1st February. The accompanying photographs (courtesy of Steve Martin) show the  branch members and Gerald, who is the branch President. Gerald and HRH did a joint reading from Great Expectations to local school children and branch members in Rochester Guildhall. Gerald, as always, did a great reading that was given to him at very short notice, and not one in his normal repertoire. HRH also did an interesting post-talk question-and-answer session with the school children. HRH also opened the new permanent exhibition in the Guildhall THE MAKING OF MR DICKENS – which opens to the public week commencing 7th February (appropriately). Every member of the branch dressed in period costume was introduced to, shook hands and had a few words with HRH.
