Dickens event in Worcester 8th February 2025
Script Haven, Worcester, an independent bookshop, opened in August 2023, and the owner, Leena Batchelor, discovered later that the building was once a hotel called The Swan, which Dickens visited whilst delivering his reading of 'A Christmas Carol' in 1858. In fact, he wrote letters to Wilkie Collins from there. As a result of this the shop is the proud bearer of an official blue plaque denoting this.
