Founded in 1884, the Art Workers Guild is a society of artists, craftsmen and designers drawn together by a common interest in the interaction, development and distribution of creative skills. It acquired the property at 6 Queen Square in 1914. Further details of the Guild and the venue are to be found at: http://www.artworkersguild.org.

JANUARY
Tuesday 26th: Social Evening, with refreshments, to include an introduction by Dr Tony Williams to our book of the year, The Old Curiosity Shop.
FEBRUARY
* Monday 8th: Celebrating Charles Dickens’s 198th Birthday, dinner at the National Liberal Club.
Wednesday 24th: ‘What the Butler Saw - Victorian domestic servants’: talk by Alison Gowans.
MARCH
Monday 22nd: Film of The Old Curiosity Shop (details tbc).
APRIL
Wednesday 28th: ‘Youth and Age in The Old Curiosity Shop’: talk by Professor Grahame Smith, President of the Dickens Fellowship.
MAY
Thursday 13th: Dickens Day at Leadenhall Market: all-day reading of The Pickwick Papers (tbc).
*Sunday 16th: Commemoration Service at the Church of St George the Martyr, Borough High Street, at 11.00 a.m., followed by lunch at the George Inn, Southwark.
Tuesday 25th: ‘Writing a Life of Dickens – and After?’: talk by Professor Michael Slater.
JUNE
*Tuesday 8th: Wreath-laying at Westminster Abbey to mark the 140th Anniversary of the death of Charles Dickens. Assemble at 5.45 p.m. inside the West Door. Members may wish to attend Evensong beforehand in the Abbey at 5.00 p.m.
JULY
Wednesday 21st – Monday 26th: 104th International Dickens Fellowship Conference in Eastbourne. Further details from the Conference website www.dickensfellowship.org/Conference2010.htm.

AUGUST
Saturday 14th: ‘Dickens North of Doughty Street’: walk led by Dr Tony Williams. Meet at the Charles Dickens Museum at 2 p.m.
SEPTEMBER
*Saturday 4th: Annual Outing, this year to Knebworth House in Hertfordshire.
Thursday 16th: ‘Bloody Murder! – Dickens and the Police’: talk by Allan Clack.
OCTOBER
Wednesday 13th: ‘The Old Curiosity Shop’: talk by Dr Beryl Gray. Saturday 23rd: Open Day at the Charles Dickens Museum, as part of the Bloomsbury Festival (tbc ).
NOVEMBER
Monday 15th : ‘Dickens and Turner’: joint meeting with the Turner Society, with contributions from Professor Malcolm Andrews, Professor Léonee Ormond and Turner expert, Andrew Wilton.
DECEMBER
*Saturday 4th: Christmas Supper.
Thursday 9th : Entertainments and social event.
