Essays may be either original or previously prepared. They should preferably be typed, with the student's name, school address and email address clearly indicated.
Each entry should be accompanied by a certificate of authentication signed by a teacher to indicate that it is the student's original unaided work. Certificates are available from the English Association office or click here to download a copy Certificate of authentication.
Entries should be sent to: Dickens Essay Prize Competition, The English Association, University of Leicester, Leicester, LE1 7RH.
Closing date for entries is: 30 March 2012
The winner will receive a cheque for £250 and the winning essay will be reprinted in the English Association Newsletter.
The prize was launched at the British Library in London on 22nd November, 2010 at the 'Hard Expectations or Great Times: Making Sense of Dickens Today' conference, sponsored by the British Library, the Charles Dickens Museum and the English Association.
