Boulogne sur merThe Boulogne Branch of the Dickens Fellowship invites you to the 107th International Dickens Fellowship Conference, which will take place in Boulogne sur Mer from 26 June to 1 July 2013. For more information about the town of Boulogne visit http://www.ville-boulogne-sur-mer.fr/

 

Delegates have the option of an additional day trip to Le Touquet on 1 July.

The programme of activities and the booking form are now available.

Lectures and most lunches will take place at La Faiencerie, a modern theatre in the town. Lecturers will include Malcolm Andrews, John Edmondson, David Parroissien, Michael Rogers, Michael Slater, Janine Watrin. Delegates will learn about Dickens’s association with Boulogne and Condette, and other aspects of the Anglo-French Dickensian connection.
The three-course evening meals will be at Nausicaa, the seafront aquarium, http://www.nausicaa.fr/restaurant-gastronomique.html, and will include lively entertainments. The banquet, held on the Friday evening, will be at the Les Jardins de la Matelote restaurant http://www.lesjardinsdelamatelote.com/

Shuttle buses will provide transport between the locations.

There will be time to explore the town of Boulogne and the resort of Wimereux. Activities include a guided tour of the Vieille Ville (the Old Town), and an outing to the historic town of St Omer and the nearby World War II museum at La Coupole. http://www.lacoupole-france.com/la-coupole-saint-omer. The Centre de l’Entente Cordiale at Le Chateau d’Hardelot at Condette will welcome and entertain delegates. http://www.chateau-hardelot.fr/.
On the 1 July an additional excursion has been arranged to the fashionable seaside resort of Le Touquet. http://www.informationfrance.com/le-touquet.php.
